And there aluminium for a better fit apparentley. they must of hammered them flat with a brick after being barreled with house bricks. Then finished them of with a light pass over with some spare house bricks  . I hope im not treading on sombody ebay listing from this forum :?

Anyhows, i thought I would post up some picks of my EGR clean up, there free to use so if Admin wants to bung them in with the other and Better EGR thread/howto then thats cool 8).

I did notice I had and oiley inlet on the head on No 4, but also noticed a bit of oil resting in the EGR to Main inlet on the manifold pipe. Dunno if this is leaky oil from turbo or leaking valve seal on No 4 or thats just how the stuff hits the fan, with a twisty turny air flow in the mainfold.

they put the in a rumbler which basicly is a drum with a load of small stones and water revolving that takes all the burrs off, normaly used in heat treatment to clean crap off after heating up,(less abrasive that shot blast)

All the sillicone gaskets went in the dish washer and sprung back like new, so re used them. theres not a the tiniest hiss or bubble after i soaped it up, the manifold that is, not the horse scarer.

reading on here and seeing they cost £4 I am almost convinced that I am going to blank the EGR.

Will this help with engine noise when cold ?

I notice my 75 is a noisier engine than my mates 100ps - not a noise that sounds like a problem just a noisy diesel where as the 100 sounds smoother low revs and cold being the noticable times ?

Also, try running 350-400ml of good quality 2-stroke oil in with a full tank of diesel. Run for 50 odd miles and should start to notice a smoother idle and less smoke.
Original poster: Is there a gasket to replace when removing the egr to clean, or just reuse the original?

Looking at my last picture on the bottom left hand side of the EGR, it looks like one of the exhast donut jobbies. Like I said before tobacco tin lid worked fine, thin enough to mould into a gasket I spose, but not weak with heat, cracking and melting like ally.

It's all a bit off a blur to me 'cos it was just before a new years eve party with 3 family members adhoc birthdays thrown in, taking it apart was the eve then new years day half blind putting it back together

your a MK7 Blue estate, what type of blank you got? I thought MK7 had to have a hole in the blank off so the computer didn't get confuseed?? my mk6 75ps dura hasn't got a MAP sensor on what I took off for cleaning, maybe thats the reason for funny mk7 blanks probs.

If you just want to know if its worth while doing it take of the big hose off between the EGR and inlet to the Intake manifold and have a look and considerer your crudness. if either is full up with crud like mine was the it's well worth the effort just for fuel economy or if your inclined for choking babys, I have seen much worse, but it has saved me plenty of diesel on idle in london standing in trafic and the turbo kicks in nicer. small things amount, fastest 75ps around here ;) and loudest if I drop the subs ;)
