Surely there's not that much if a difference?

It's just an idea as no one would touch my van or if they go near it my neighbour warns them to leave
Just stick TDCI on the front n back Works for me N
There's a tdci in the breakers near me , injectors are gone but the badges are there

In a way you are right - with winter tyres there is not a lot of difference between driving on snow and ice and driving on tarmac.
I drove onto an empty overflow car park on Tuesday morning that had been "cleared" and was now solid, smooth sheet ice, parked up and got out. Two cars tried to follow me, one ended up skating right round 180 degrees, and the second one seeing what happened to the first one, slid to a stop and just span out trying to move again.
When I came back half an hour later, I got in and drove off easy peasy. Both the other cars were just abandoned where they stood!

Similarly, I came home tonight, red warning on the dash (-2), but the road looked clear of the snow and ice which was still there this morning when I left. Drove up normally and braked to reverse on to the drive, manoevering round a car parked opposite. Parked up, got out of the van, and nearly went ar** over t** on the sheet ice on the drive. Went to cross the road to speak to a neighbour, and that was even worse. The van with it's Alpin's hadn't slipped a wheel at all, so I had no idea it was as bad as it was till I tried walking on it

I wonder if Michelin make any "Alpin" winter trainers
