Fitted some idiot gauges last week...

Volts, oil pressure and turbo boost sorted.. I like to know what's going on so I can get things looked at before they become a major issue.

As can be seen, cold idle oil pressure is 70psi...pretty good I believe....when warmed up it drops to ~30-35psi.

Max turbo boost at full throttle/load is just shy of 22 psi...she's making a nice amount of torque & neddies..

A question has popped into my head :o

Does the map sensor give out a similar signal to the gauge sensor?

I'll just leave that there for you.

I know you can tap a boost gauge into the vacuum but I would prefer to know exactly what the boost pressure is, map sensor is that the one on the intercooler (mk6 and god knows where on mk7)

I had an idea t'other week, if I drill and fit red leds to my skull gear knob could I link it to light up when the van is on boost :)

Me thinks his lordship should do 'an idiots guide to fitting a boost gauge, oil pressure gauge' for people like me who don't quite understand the dark art of gauges  N
