I feel your pain mate....did the same thing myself when I slipped with a tyre iron changing a tyre on my motorcycle...squealed like a little girl I did..!

Curiosity got the better of me and I cut the driven plate apart to see what broke.
Notice the ring above and just to the right of the driven plate - a couple of splits in it. Plus a few of the small springs are completely knackered.

Not yet. I've got the old one off now, but not fitted the new one yet. Still got the difficult bit of centering it up without disturbing the self-adjusting mechanism to come.
