Changed my EGR valve yesterday and then today EML light back on and lacking power.
After looking on my phone this forum comes to the rescue again with blocked turbo boost sensor.
Quick blast with brake cleaner and scraping and back to full power.
I do have before and after pics but a bit lacking in upload skills.

Took the Mk7 down for an MOT, and it passed with only a couple of advisories 8)

One was a screw in the tyre which the guy fixed for me straight away, but the other was the beginnings of corrosion by the drivers step, which has only appeared since last year :(
Maybe now is the time to start looking for a Custom

I'm not convinced myself, but I don't have the means or the inclination to start welding, and paying someone gets a bit expensive, as it all starts breaking out once it starts; I had that problem with the Mk6 which cost me as much in welding repairs as it did to buy in the first place, and it still failed the MOT on rust the following year.

I will start looking, in case something nice comes up at the right price 8)

Hello. First post!

I am overhauling a Transit 260 2.2 TDCi SWB 2006, with some time draining technical issues :D

Today I replaced the starter motor as this had sheered of at the connection points. I suspected this hadn't been functioning well.

After replacement the battery needed a few hours charge from the mains. Eventually started up, but...

just took a test drive. And seemed slow on the uptake of acceleration ( it has seemed like that for the past couple of weeks) .

And when stopping at a junction, or parking up commonly cuts out and i have to restart.

I have seen this on another site:

This I think: A common fault with the mk 7 tdci 2.2 transits appears to be rough idle engine tick over or fluctuation engine hunting. Many back street garages will offer a multitude of answers ..." It's Your EGR valve mate " Injectors need replacing Guv" "needs a service" "It's your High pressure pump " etc etc This is all very well if you have a bottomless pit of money to keep forking out replacing most of your engine ... An alternative, shall we start with the most obvious cause? Arm yourself with an 8mm and 10mm socket , remove the air filter box , this is held down with two 8mm nuts at the back and one 10mm at the front , unclip the airflow meter pipe from the box( retained by two spring loaded clips) slide off the air intake pipe located to the left of the box, pull airbox from engine bay . Now you can see the wood for the trees! Ok next port of call is the fuel pressure relief valve, this is located at the right hand ( if looking at the van from the front) end of the rail. The valve is a 17mm retention .Remove the diesel relief pipe from the valve ( normally held in place by a clip, push in red tab to release ) Unwind the valve with 17mm ring spanner. If upon removing the valve you find that you have 'several bits' this means that the valve has exploded! and will need replacing a good valve will be one part

Any thoughts?

After having to scrap my mk 5,i bought a mk6 2,4 mwb 2003 or 4 looked really clean and looked after, the back was all boarded out I paid £1100 for it and was quite pleased with it intending to do it out as a campervan how ever when I stripped the back and floor out its rotten all round both wheel arches my mate does welding and said he would do it for me so got all the metal when he was welding I decided to check the cab steps both steps have gone so lifted the floor matts witch were both wet and the floor all rusted with holes in.well I wasn't expecting a brand new van but disappointed nevertheless then my mate said the gas had run out got another bottle £90 so resume the work on Monday so looking for advice on noted hot spots on where the water is coming in and what sealer is the best to use any other tips on a mk6 I should know about I live in South Shields all help welcomed cheers Eddie.

Finally got the oil cooler radiator replacement in (all my smegging tools are in Scotland so did a lot of running around trying to find the right socket bits to get the bolts out this week), connected the shiny new water hose, slapped the new oil filter & oil in, chucked water in it too, fired the bandit up - it didn’t spew oil and/or water everywhere! - and finally parked it back against the wall so my neighbours stop giving me evils.

Didn’t have enough oil though, I’m 1.5l short

Anyway it might have to be altered as the switches now catch the ashtray. N
