Airthies wrote:Heard a kind of hissing noise this avo so had a Wee investigation. Found it was one of the batteries hissing when charging but found the breathers both missing off them. Can't check the water level of the one that's hissing since it's sealed but there back in with the breathers properly connected.
Then stripped out an axle weighing system. Starting to fertile this thing all ready and it's not even mine yet.
heehaw tae see here, please shift along.

Your alternator may be over-charging. This happened to me on my Ford Ranger truck. It boiled the acid in the battery and blew the headlamp bulbs so it was an expensive problem. I would recommend you to check the battery voltage while charging and have the alternator checked if it's above 14.5 volts. Mine went as high as 17volts, but the damage had already been done.

Cant undo any of the pulley nuts to secure it so thought try a screwdriver, nearly took my bleedin eye out when the screwdriver snapped Starting to think its the wrong belt, stupid design stupid van stupid stupid belt, having a rest before I end up smashing something in frustration
Think I might remove the front bumper so am not lay on my back, might even remove the rad to have a look at the pump while I'm at it By tonight I'll have no van but a nice pile of bit (mostly broken bits )
Where loot to tell me there's an easier way N

Put the belt over the top half of both pulleys (if you can over the small pulley complete and half the crank pulley or the other way around), if needed use the screwdriver to lever it on the rest of the way or if not possible then just fingers on the belt and and 15mm socket wrench on the crank pulley and rotate it clockwise to turn the pulley and force the belt on.
Mine is the crank pulley and i think the pas pump pulley which is forward from it, not sure what arrangement you have but the belt shouldn't be that much smaller than the 1 you took off.
Oh and be careful

Oh my arrangement is pretty basic, small alternator pulley hidden up next to the chassis and the big crank (I think) pulley and.....er....well....thats it, the problem I am having is I put the belt fully on the small pulley, put some on the top of the big pulley and the rest of the belt goes across the centre of the big pulley and I cant get it over the lip, stupid stretch belt I might soak it in hot water to see if it softens up abit, then its ned smash lol.
