I've driven vans of all sizes since I was 17, and can truthfully say that I've never scraped a single one of them, until this occasion when manoevering the van in the pitch dark, between a high wall and a parked car, in a gap barely 3 inches wider than the van, I didn't see the coping stone sticking out as I started a turn

I was gutted, and I hate driving it around like this, but can't justify spending the £500 on a "non-essential" repair at this time, due to business being so cr*p :(

Al try smart repair by vauxhall garage, just ask them, he'll try and blend it all in and do 3 times the size of what is needed Lol but talk with him and see what you both agree on, but the work is like magic  it's 99% to my eye which is very picky but Honestly you might get it for 150 pounds or so maybe less.
I don't know what they do but it is mint!.
Mine was 288 and he fixed scratches on the door and wing and painted it then lacquered the whole wing and whole door and half front bumper.
Have you done it yet? :-)

MOT....

After spending the last four days lying on the drive doing the rear drums and shoes, handbrake cable and undersealing the entire van from the front wheels backwards I took it for the MOT and it passed. The MOT tester said "This van is getting better not worse" having remembered last year when it failed on a lot of welding. The only advisories are things I already knew about and had planned - Some corrosion forward of the front wheels (it got so cold that my underseal was crystallising so I couldn't carry on), corrosion on the inside of the front wheel arches, handbrake travel (just fitted a new cable so it has stretched on the way) and light corrosion of the rear brake pipes just needing cleaning/painting. Plus I'm going to replace the middle and rear exhaust sections.

So another mk6 which is being saved....... When all the above is done I have some more tidying to do but it runs really well.
I've rebuilt a Defender, several motorcycles and quite a bit to both a Mk6 & 7 Transit. Now bought a new Custom and just doing a few small bits to it.

If you had to chop it out it probably wasn't just surface rust :-)
