My transit idles but cuts out a 3000rpm help!

Postby Nickthebuilder » Sat Jun 30, 2012 10:40 am

Hi, I've been searching this knowledge packed forum for answers but I have hit a wall!.
I've got a transit 260 2.0l tddi 2003 mk6. 4 weeks ago my van decided to to cut out whist I was driving and wouldn't start wouldnt even crank turn the key and nothing, I checked all the fuses on the side of the road and all seemed fine so I had it towed to the father in laws garage and started searching for faults because it wouldn't crank we thought it must be a electrical fault, we pluged in a snap on scanner and it kept on saying no communication and then we noticed there was no change in the pats light when the ignition was switched on and off so we checked the key the halo, wires changed ecu and key to see if it made a difference but nothing so put original ecu back in and checked all the earths and power points to the ecu for any breaks but all was good for earthing and power aswel.
So the next step was the pump we had a Bosch diagnostic plug into the back of it and the that could gain communication so was told the pump was shot which could cause the pats to play up so we took the pump off and sent the edc off the top of the pump off for testing, had a phone call off the testers saying there is nothing wrong with the edc and got charged £30 for there help lol.
So we put the pump back together back on the van and AMAZING the van decided to crank, primed it up and started wtf! Now the van will idle but cut out when reved to 3000rpm every time but then start on the turn of the key so
Now I'm stumped! It's had new injectors put in yesterday and still the same problem! Could the pump still be the problem?
Can anyone help me!!

Very very carefully check the wiring to the pump, it can chafe where it crosses the starter, it may not be obvious from the out side, and you wil have to open up the covering, broken wires in here will cause all of your problems, and it's quite common
Everyone is entitled to my opinion

Hi ake thanks for the reply, we had read about the problem you have said on here and when decided to take all the of the loom after the fuse box where it plugs in out and check the lot for breaks with a multi meter and still can't find the problem it just baffles me because it will start every time and it will even drive just as soon as you hit 3000rpm it cuts out when we plug the snap on scanner in it brings fault codes p0650 mil control module circuit malfunction p1665 injection pump control module communications p1563 injection pump control module requesting engine stop p1664 injection pump module malfunction p0381 glow plug indicator circuit malfunction p0335 crankshaft position sensor A circuit malfunction.
After reading the crank sensor code we changed it but still the same!
Do you think the timing chain could of move when I removed the pump even though I pinned all the pump when I removed it? I am really stumped at the moment and screwed because no van no work .
Again thanks for the reply!!!

It's always possible, but unlikely :?
You didn't try to bump or tow start it, did you?
