Is it a Mk7 2.2 FWD? Think that will be a solid flywheel, stand to be corrected on that though.

Mine sometimes chatters away, stops if you put the clutch in. I think it's something amongst the cables rattling.

If you gently push the gearstick towards a gear, does the pitch of the noise change? That should rule out clutch bearing. I've seen somewhere on here about something called a gear cable glove/sleeve being fitted.

i've got the exact same symprons, i think it may be a gear linkage issue, but i'm going to put mine in on warrenty to see what the issue is, its a rattling type sound thats worrying me, same symptoms as above, push the gear lever forward/backwards without putting it in gear & the rattle is louder, somtimes when you start the van, there is no rattle other times its there, i dont think its the motor or in the gearbox, i feel its linkage or clutch system related

if we can shed light on it that would be great, my mk7 is growing on me as a keeper but want it right before warrenty runs out so i can start modding my van for my needs

I have this noise, twice on warranty it seems quiet so I think it's gone but then sneaks back! Gonna have to make a fuss about it soon, be good if anyone has clues on a cause on here though :)

anyone know if this problom has been determined?

i have a feeling its a gear linkage issue onthe mk7 smf 2.2 i've had this rectified under warrenty once & it has returned, i have had no gear selection issues in the sence of not getting gears at all but at times it has been a little more difficult select gears sometimes, a little stiffer to get in, but its intermittant!

when i move the stick forth/aft 10mm or so i get the rattling sound more

i think personally on a van that only doe very light duty & its not got 50k on the clock yet this is'nt good!
