sliding door handle

ok so the above pic might not have uploaded!

so the sliding door works from the inside but the out side handle only works if i am VERY careful...

when i look inside the door (from the inside of van) there is two plactic levers... the bottom lever pulls a metal latch which is connected to cable via a orange clip

the problem is that there is nothing catchin the top lever which moves when outside handle is pulled.... i figure there must be something missing

anyone have any ideas? there must be something that connects from bottom lever to top lever!
If it aint nailed down... sling it in da van

I think the other lever is for putting the handle on a sld on the other side of the van as you would turn it upside down to fit and thats why they are not made left hand or right hand specific. you would also have to loosen the lever and attach the spring the other way round cos it levers against two small grooves in the handle.

ah wulliewinkle i get it now :)

so i am not missing a piece :D

i have to be very gentle with the handle for sliding door or the lever slips around the metal plate thingy and doesnt open door... do you know if there is a way of adjusting it so there isnt as much play in the metal plate that the plastic lever pushes to pull cable?

Mine does exactly the same for some reason, it's a pain taking the inside panel off and putting it back on!

they are just a bad design in my opinion, mine broke aswell so i replaced it. but dont buy the cheap ones for a fiver off ebay cos they dont come fitted with the spring and lever. the ones on ebay for about twenty quid are ok and come with all the bits already bolted on :) you can adjust the lever with a torx screwdriver bit but be carefull not to tighten it to much or you will be back to square one

Bad design so it is.... what i did was glue a piece if wood or use plastic or mental
On plate Behind plastic latch that way keeping pressure enough on plastic latch thus
Preventing it sliping around the end of plate... working a treat :)

If i can figure out how to post pics il get one up to show what i did
