MK 7) hunting/surging at idle, 2.4 ford transit

Postby speedyspeedy » Fri May 17, 2013 7:46 pm

Hi people of the Transit.
so like the topic says my MK 7) 2.4 115. 07 is hunting/surging at idle but not lacking power. but is just started stooling at red light and in traffic and just started to do this...
but for the last 2 months that ive owned it.
Its been idling just under 1000!

so ive been doing some reading on here and found these 2 forms!
viewtopic.php?f=40&t=73368

http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/Ford-transit- ... 884/g.html

so i defo wont to try this and see if it works. but the thing is that when i took the prv out it was in bits. bad PVR right?
and if i need a new one that i will get right away. form says to do a pcm recalibration/software update. before putting new one in?
is that right? do i put old one back in before tacking to ford?

I dont know if i got all the parts out of the prv?
1 piston.
2 part that has a pin that goes in the piston and sits on spring.
3 spring.
4 lastly 2 little washers.

please help me and thanks again.. :|

hi thanks for quick reply.
so why IMV as this cost £95 on ebay? can do! and do they need fitting first then before PCM update pump pilot learn etc and would
PCM blow before i get it to ford or would it last for the day ect. thanks ......

ps there seems to be a bit of diesel around injectors could this course it...

Imv is the control valve for the idle  ideally you need to fit them then drive it to get the updates as it won't update with those parts faulty ! I've just bought a IMV/PRV valve for my 3.2 from Ford, the imv (same as 2.4) list price was £102.86 and the PRV (3.2 Differ) list price was £63.44 :D

Whip your inlet off to do your imv valve then have a look inside your inlet manifold and you decide about the egr valve ! Clean it out whilst its off too, blanking the egr will bring the mil light on if you completely blank it :? Vantuner can delete the egr leaving it closed 8)

In Blue's first piccie that thing with the wire coming out is the imv valve  Really easy to whip inlet off and clean the crap out at the same time
