4 loudspeakers on Mk7 Motorhome coding via OBD

Postby slk-A4 » Sun May 19, 2013 2:40 pm

Hi folks,
in my Mk7 Motorhome 2.2 TDCi 130 HP I´ve added two loudspeakers at the rear. The van is equipped with a 6000CD radio, that has on the front a balance/fader button. The new loudspeakers work, although the front loudspeakers are a bit louder. On a campsite, I want to switch off the front loudspeakers, because they are in the frontdoors and therefore they could annoy other campers.

As you can guess, this button on the 6000CD doesn´t work. I´ve read here and there, that in motorhomes often the rear loudspeakers are switched off via canbus.

I own the OBD interface Ross-Tech VAG-COM (VCDS), with which I can scan the motomanagement, I can reset the MIL and do some scanning with it, but I can only address the motormanagement.

This it states:

Mode 9 : Calibration Identification

Type 02 - VIN : WF07XXTTF77U86777 (Address E8)
Type 04 - Calibration ID : 6C11-12K532-KS (Address E8)
Type 06 - Calibration Verification Number : 00008E3C (Address E8)

I cannot myself get into the rest of the canbus with this interface, or at least, i haven´t found out, how to do it untill now.

Do I have to go to the dealers to unlock this feature or does anyone know a trick, perhaps the address of this feature, so I could get into the canbus with my VAG-COM interface? :?: :?:

thanx for your answers, but BEMM states, it just needs recoding, that will be cheaper than buying a new one. Can anyone confirm the coding via IDS or, as I asked, via OBD`?

This is what BEMM says:

Additional Rear Speakers Camper vehicles,
typically, are only equipped with speakers in the
front doors, in which case at end-of-line the vehicle
will be programmed for just the front speakers and
the fade function disabled on the radios. If the
radio is set for four speakers, and those at the rear
are absent, a fault code will be flagged. The vehicle
would need reconfiguring at a Dealer once
speakers are installed. The radio will output 17W
per channel (left and right); a wire size with a CSA
of 0.75 is recommended.
On camper vehicles, a camper rear speaker signal
connector is located in the seat pedestal.

Anyone with access to Ford ids can reprogram it, either a Ford dealer, or a good independent .

When I fitted rear speakers to mine we just connected to the rear speaker connections in the multi plug coming from the head unit & it all worked fine, didn't need any coding or hooking up to ids, maybe I was lucky!

Then you can set the Fader to REAR and it will silence the front speakers.

my problem is that my van is a motorhome, as I wrote before, and these usually are fitted with only two front speakers. The fade function of the 6000CD has been disabled at the factory. The balance-fade button on the radio is only for balance, fade does not work. SO I will have to go to dealer.

I think would be easier to just upgrade the radio for a used one from ebay

Whilst I can't help you with the details of the process, I can confirm that the information in the BEMM is correct.

My Mk7-based motorhome was supplied with 4 speakers as standard, but the fader was disabled.

It was subject to the intercooler recall from scratch, and I asked my dealer to look at it (with the BEMM wording as reference) whilst doing the recall work.

Whilst they professed no knowledge, it was delivered back to me with the fader working, and a "smiley" on the worksheet.

FOC as well!
