Bloody hate having to worry about this stuff but van break ins seem to be going through the roof.

I have also looked at those armaplate things that blank off the door lock but what the hell do you do if the remote packs up?

Best idea I can think of is a two stage lock, like the chain on the front door. Have it so if they get past the first lock then the door just opens enough to trigger a big alarm/pager, then the chain stops it going any more. The chain needs linking to a central locking kit/pin system.

That way the alarm will be going off but they will be stuck.

Or, if you don't have a factory fit alarm, an alarm that is separate from from the van security or central locking. You would need a separate remote for it.
You could interrupt the right starter or pcm circuit to stop the engine cranking.

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

I'd just add extra deadlocks to the doors, an extra alarm as suggested thats seperate to the rest of the ford kit, and disconnect your diagnostic connector and loose the wiring for it (not so much you cant use it again if you need to, but enough for someone to not bother trying to find it) as this is where they plug in and bypass the imobiiser
