Then it dawned on me that you could use a 'bulb' type primer, as fitted to Peugeots and Rovers. This could be bought from a scrappy and left in place in the fuel line on your Tranny. Then I noticed in a new Sealey service tool "2007 promotion" pamphlet, that you can buy a "diesel fuel priming tool" which is a bulb type bleeder that looks perfect for the job. Pt no is: VSE055 and I'm buying one NOW! Only cost £12.95 +vat. Website is: http://www.sealey.co.uk. I do hope this helps some people because I know when forums have helped me in the past it's been really great. The van in question, by the way, is running perfectly with no leaks. The solenoid is still not available as a seperate part from Ford, so go to your Diesel specialist or Bosch. You will also need the special tool, again see your diesel guy. Stoneycroft diesel in Liverpool got me these parts and could not have been more helpful-highly recommended. Happy bleeding, Jon. :D :D :D

i got one these sealey thingy's in recently to help a couple of non starting mk6's i had in.. it was useless. Gave only the slightest vacuum.. i removed the return pipe from the pump itself in the end & manually filled the flow pipe ( to pump) at the filter head end till it came out the return.. helped but wasnt ideal.. I tried a vac pump as well that day & in the end came to the conclusion that you must bleed each bit separately , like get the filter head bled then the pipes to & from the pump etc & finally crack off all injectors at once , crank it then do them up one by one as fuel comes through.. someone must have found an easy way though by now..?

Hi all, first post and not engine minded at all...!
I have just had a new fuel pump solenoid fitted after it was leaking, now after 100 miles, when turned off the van wont start?
I took it back to the garage and they are stumped, clueless, and are saying maybe the pump is knackered? its pumping diesel fine when bump started
It starts with easystart first time and runs fine enough but just wont start when you turn it over normally, any ideas?

do you have any fault codes present ? Could well be something else on the pump failing but possibly you have an air leak in fuel system, cheapest way is get mate with same tddi model & swap over the whole filter & "filter head " .. but with limited mechanical knowledge its time to find a local transit specialist really, to check previous work quality & diagnose from there :(

rsjon wrote:Hello! This is my first post! I have just replaced the fuel metering solenoid on a 53 plate FWD 2.0 Tranny and CANNOT get the fuel system to bleed! :( Initially it started ok but soon stopped and will not bleed/start. I know these are tricky to bleed (I've had fun before with filter heads and pipes) but this seems really bad. There is no primer on the filter head and I have tried vacuum on the injector pipes to no avail. When cranking a small ammount of fuel comes out and air, but not enough to start I don't think. Can anybody help and give me a definitive sequence for bleeding the horror!!
Thanks, Jon.

the only way is to put hand pump on fuel line before filter and pump away until air comes out of the top ov injectors and nip thm up and crank it pumping it as its turning i left my pump on for about a month until i was ok with it and keep it in the tool box in the van it cost 7.50 euro its the little hand pump with two clear pipes on each end used for tranfure uel from one car to another the pipes even fitted as well
