Recall 155ps not sure about which others are affected.

Postby shovelheadrob » Mon Dec 23, 2013 4:00 pm

Just booked my van in for second service & it's due a recall update. Haven't had the letter from Ford yet but the dealer showed me their notification. At low engine temperature, below 20°c excess cylinder pressure can cause piston cracks or failure. Be interesting to see it this stops it sounding like a bag of nails when it's cold!

That was the title of the bulletin they showed me IIRC. Does that apply to yours too?

No, must be purely a software issue.

Well they did the service & software update today & the first things I've noticed are the idle speed has increased to around 950rpm, the anti stall seems a bit more noticeable & driving it home it seemed a bit quieter, I'll see if it's any different from stone cold tomorrow. No difference in normal driving power wise, I'm going to get in touch with Martyn (Vantuner) let him work his magic now it's well run in!

Went out in the van today, from stone cold it is the quietest it's ever been even with the sounds off there is no diesel knock at all, smooth to. Back to work on Monday so next week will see if the economy has changed. Still not had a letter from Ford about it......strange!
No one else had a notification then?

Did you get yours done? My fuel consumption has improved quite dramatically, before service I was getting 29.8mpg according to the trip computer, this week on the same run it has averaged 34.7mpg.

Wow, I could do with an mpg increase like that.

I'm going to work it out on paper at the weekend, just in case the computer calibration has changed, as before the service the trip consumption was always 1-2mpg lower than I calculated.

I use an app called Road Trip LE which works out mpg for you, I've been using it for 20k miles now and the readings are always very close to the van readout.

Just seen this and spoken to my dealer......service guy there didnt know anything about it but its now booked in as it is outstanding.

Asked them also to look at the problem that when you leave the hazard lights on for any period when you get back in the van you have no lights or control of the stereo until you leave the van all switched off for 30 mins.
