DO NOT BUMP START MK6/7 DIESEL TRANSITS
Bump starting MK6/7 Duratorq engined Transits from is cold is dangerous as the lack of oil pressure in the timing chain tensioner means that the chain may be slack and the shock loading of a rough bump start can cause the chain to jump, When it jumps it wrecks the cam carrier making for an expensive repair.

If you must push or tow start your Transit do it in third gear but DO NOT use the clutch just pull it from rest in gear so that the engine starts turning slowly allowing the tensioner to work as normal.
