I've got 1 of those wheels myself but no airbag for it, i used the buttons for my cruise which is why i have the spare cmax wheel complete,

I'd still avoid that wheel unless you get the airbag with it and cheap tho, you'll find that buying them separate the bags can be expensive :-(

The focus wheel have the pins at 9 and 3, the transit are slightly past 9 and 3 when straight ahead, so you need to turn the squib thingymajiggy so the pins align with the wheel in the straight
ahead position, heres some pics, not the best I might add but might make more sense then mate :)

I understand the offset rule but both my original transit wheel is not offset nor is my cmax wheel nor is my Mondeo mk4 wheel.
Maybe they were swapped?

Transit mk7 steering wheels have the 2 hole for the squib offset. Focus/Mondeo or not.

You can fit either Focus or Mondeo steering wheels but must recalibrate SAS (Steering angle sensor).

Why do you have to do this :?:

Simple if you don't recalibrate SAS. When braking hard on a straight road ABS/ESP system will think you are braking & turning slightly left at the same time.
ESP will then apply more braking force to the rear N/S wheel :!:

 cheers Paul i understand all that but the bit that confused me was that i was convinced that my standard wheel was straight but a look on eBay confirms that you are correct so either I'm stupid or mine was changed before i got it?. (I'm probably stupid  )

Not recalibrating will more than likely bring the light on at higher speed straight line also i think

Hi guys, I'm just getting my mk7 ready for cc retro fitting and I've discovered that there's a cut wire at the steering wheel plug.....it's black and purple. I would like to know what that wire is for before I repair it...wouldn't want to set off the airbag !
The previous owner had already fitted a cmax wheel presumably with the intention of getting cc activated but never went any further, maybe because the loom and bcm need upgrading too.
Also the horn doesn't work when the ignition is on, is that because of the cut wire ?
Thanks in advance

Hi again, I have completed my move to Qld and whilst I still do not have my workshop completed I do have Council approval and the Shed gets delivered tomorrow.

I am re-visiting this Cruise Control Project (VM 2007 2.4 Diesel). I have fitted the Steering wheel and will fit the BCM when I get a few answers from the members here. What I want to know is.

If I fit the BCM do I have to immediately have the computer re-programmed to accept the Cruise Control or can I drive it till I find someone to do it?

Does anyone know of an enthusiast in either Sydney or Qld that can do the programming for me?

Thank you all, for the help I received in sorting my Dodgy Van, If I had gone with the dealers quote I would have still been trying to fix it, and had a full set of new injectors for no good reason at all. With the valuable information I received, I was able to save better than $1500.00 and turn a Sows ear into a Silk Purse. Many thanks.

Hi mate, you will need to do a module replacement for the new bcm which will copy the original bcm info to it, initialization of the module is needed and your keys programmed to it iirc, that will take you to where you ate now, then you need modified software installed to turn on cruise etc.
Ids is required in all events tho. :-)

One option is to have someone send a pre programmed BCM to you , with the cruise already activated & your van's VIN ID etc already programmed in... or even post yours over for that part of the programming .. ( you would still need an operator with IDS to program the keys etc which kinda defeats the object of getting it pre-programmed  )

I take it yours has a B series BCM in it at the moment ?

Thank you Iami - that's exactly what I meant. So I have a BCM with the magic letter on it, and a C-Max steering wheel. I'm pretty sure once I get the steering wheel and shroud off, I'll be OK but at the BCM end I'm confused. especially as in one pic I see a green connector and in others I see a black one. SO I would be mighty greatful if somone would help me out at that end.

Cheers - Pete

For cruise once you have worked out you have a C (or D) BCM you just need to confirm the squib connector has the cruise wires then you can fit the wheel then get it activated.. :)
