Are you sure it is bk? Should be C? Bcm. If you get the green light then it is active though. Triple check the 2 wires from the squib to the bcm and they are correct way around etc. If you have any abs/esp faults or warning lights or faulty Crist cruise control buttons then cruise won't work.

Also to use cruise you must drive up to speed then select on then select +set to get it working you can't just press + set.

Also check fault codes you may see brake/clutch switch or something else causing cruise to fail.

Back to basics first though be thorough.

I'm stuck... I'm nearly there but got a problem with Molex crimp terminals. What Kind of terminal should I buy for additional 3 wires from "under steering wheel" connector to BCM ? Someone has mentioned in this thread, this https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/pcb-connector-contacts/8967425/ should be fine - but it wasn't tested. Any ideas?

I wonder if you can help me before I go mad Regarding the cruise control
I have a BK BCM which the cruise has been activated due to there being a green light on the dash before I start the van

I’ve connected two wires to the squib 4.5 and 29,40 on the bcm
But I can’t get it to work any ideas

Is there a bcm wiring diagram

Kind regards Les 07917646910

I thought a C BCM was needed to activate cruise control? Was something I read about adding to mine but saw I've only got a B* BCM

Yes I put that in my reply, C? Where? =software eg CB CD CG etc. BK is bog standard and won't allow cruise function, when trying to program it, it will say the hardware isn't compatible.

Hence my question, was he sure it was BK.
No response though.

Sorry to resurrect such a huge post - I've been after someone to help out with the BCM coding/update as I'm trying to fit cruise control to my Mk7.

I have a new BCM and just need it coding to my keys and updating to accept cruise control, then I can get on with fitting the wheel/wiring - but I'm unable to find anyone near me (Sheffield) that can help. Don't mind travelling a bit, Vantuner recommended contacting Loot in N Wales but us new forum users aren't able to send PMs :D

Any help much appreciated!

Please note that I'm not that active these days and the thread is years old so any questions put to me will be hard to answer as I'm old now and struggle with simple memory questions let alone ones of this nature

You need all high spec components.

You need all the correct wiring installed or added safely.

You need configuration with ids or forscan (I never used forscan so please don't ask how)

Does anyone who's followed this (superb, thanks Loot) thread know if a steering wheel from a 2010 Cmax will fit a MK7 Transit?
If so, can I use the original Cmax airbag or is there are difference between car and van airbags, i.e. direction they explode in to protect driver!
thanks

Hi Snowjoe :)

I can confirm a 2005-2011 CMAX wheel was the one I used (silver spokes), though mine came without airbag, so I was able to fit my existing airbag into the wheel. I'm almost certain that the airbag would be the same fitment since they are interchangeable, but you could always go down that option and just refit your existing one.

Thanks,
Dave

Cmax airbag has 2 connectors (yellow and orange from memory). Transit has a yellow one.

thank you Dave, that's really helpful. I think you're saying I can buy a 2010 Cmax wheel, which comes with airbag fitted, and then I don't have to do the nasty job of fitting transit airbag to it? Oh, oops, i probably still need to remove airbag to fit the damn wheel!

I have Forscan (not full version but can get). I think that means I can set the angle sensor someone mentioned, did you notice that problem? Is it fairly straight forward to do this? I have a big journey coming up in a few days and I am tempted to take it one before then as I would LOVE cruise for that journey! (I have the higher level BCM)
Thanks again

Thanks but not sure if you're saying it will work or it won't? If Cmax has two, Transit has one, will that work?

PS, how different is the Cmax wheel to MK7 transit stock wheel? Is it significantly smaller? Just worrying about my wife moaning that's all, she likes her 'big wheel', makes up for her small man perhaps :D

I didn't notice a difference in diameter of the wheel personally, and you definitely have to remove the airbag to fit the wheel either way so it'd be easy enough to just fit your existing Transit airbag - remove all potential issues. I never actually clapped eyes on the CMAX airbag to tell if there were any differences, but certainly from a 'physical' perspective the Transit bag will fit with CMAX mounting points.
Thanks!
