I think i have a spare if you are stuck mate :-)

If i was a bit desperate tho I'd just use 2 small ends from the bcm pin connector and squirt a blob of silicone in the hole i think, or black sealant and i have large heat shrink I'd put over the top to make it nice :-)
Sealant should be non conductive i would think.

Let me know if you want the end and I'll see if i can find it/post it on Monday :-)

Silicon based sealant is non conductive and will work fine, but some others conduct as they are water based

Some silicone sealants release acid which will destroy electrical connectors, you have to get one that is electrically safe.

mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

I seen some D series BCM's on eBay, am I correct to assume they supersede the C series and would be suitable for this upgrade ?

I've got a d level bcm, it's high spec, probably a later calibration, possibly for euro 5 with extra functions, of which i have no use for or am aware of what they may be.
But they are high spec so for all intents and purposes fine for any mk7 :-)
It's those low spec ones you need to avoid, eBay sellers still want the same money for them lol but we know the truth mwahaha:-)

Does the mk7 squib have spare pins if you already have cruise?

Eh?
There's 9 pins 2 for airbag 1, 1 empty, 2 for cruise (non cruise empty both ends so needs 2 wires added which are on the cruise wheel and you add 2 on the bottom that go to bcm:-)) 2 for horn and 2 for airbag 2(never used on these ever :-) has a bridge plate on the bottom of the squib that comes out if you want to use them for something.

Points on adding to squib, use pin 3(first empty for a relay ignition switched added negative and use the 12v horn live for led power for eg. But you need resistors and stuff on the leds, pre bought led circuits/strips have them, needs a resistance load and not a dead short as i suspect that may set the horn off
Use airbag 2 for resistance ladder and no power going to it but no connection to airbag 1 anyway, squib has separate tracks all the way. Some squibs come with airbag 2 connector wiring and some don't, i soldered 2 onto mine but got 1 of them not connected but my new squib had a connection

Not sure what the question is punts but i hth anyway

Will this steering work for the upgrade for cruise controll it's from a focus it looks quite similar to few on this post. Some of the price are ridiculous for these steering wheel over £250 on eBay might aswell get aftermarket ones

Don't use that wheel as the airbag is different to your transit 1:-(

@punto yes use pin 3 it's empty but put a negative to it which you'll have to go through a relay, link to the door switches power with ignition on or another ignition live, don't use the illumination power because it varies on the brightness control and at low it chatters the relay lol.
Use horn positive for led positive, it is very safe and some that way.

The hard part is fitting the lights in the buttons without it looking poo:-(
I'd do the buttons first matey, i have spare buttons if you need them :o

That wheel will work, but like loot says the airbag is different from the transit one so if you want to use the focus one you have to get the focus airbag too :) you will also need
to find someone with IDS as you need to recalibrate the SAS if you use the focus wheel as the clockspring pins and connector are offset on the focus wheel compared to the transits.

If you can source both wheel and airbag, then do SAS the focus wheel seems to be a cheaper way of getting cruise as when I was looking all the transit and cmax wheels seemed to be
crazy stupid prices

Paul can you explain about the SAS because the pins are horizontal the same as transit and the SAS is on the squib?? It should work no problem. :-)
I've got 1 of those wheels myself but no airbag for it, i used the buttons for my cruise which is why i have the spare cmax wheel complete,

I'd still avoid that wheel unless you get the airbag with it and cheap tho, you'll find that buying them separate the bags can be expensive :-(

I was thinking of drilling a few holes at an angle and inserting a few leds to shine down at an angle on to the buttons? Instead of modifying the buttons themselves?

There is smooth room behind the buttons but you have to try and do it so the leds aren't on the buttons i think because the wires will break eventually unless the wire is loose enough to flex rather than bend :-)
I look forward to seeing what you come up with 8)
I bought a small sheet of perspex to stick to the buttons that i would fit the leds like yours and thought that they would light up, moved onto the mondeo wheel tho anyway.

Wiring is no problem for power anyway mate so it's just the stupid buttons, pity you couldn't get someone with a 3d printer to make some that have white cruise signs that you could light up with led at the back? Is possible like that i think.
