Bulkhead Removal

Postby looneyfitter » Tue Apr 15, 2014 11:11 pm

Hi is is possible to slit the mk7 bulkhead? I've drilled the spot-welds that are about 1/3rd of the way up but it doesn't seem to wanna split. Thinking of just cutting it accross the crease now and duct taping it.

I used a stihl saw and cut it in half where the seam is then put some left over u trim from the side windows across the top, is spot on, did think of drilling the welds but quickly came to the conclusion of F**k that

No idea, mines still in the garage either going to spray it up and put back on or leave it there, save money on fuel and keep using it for bench pressing and get fit

I was wondering about that heavy Transit metal block as well,The only thing I could think of ,,Is it there to stop the bulk head from vibration/drumming/droning effect ??
Ford Transit 280 SWB,,Year 2008,,2.2,, If it can,t be fixed/repaired/ with a 4 pound lump hammer then it must be an electrical problem.

I thought that but I'm sure that the bulkhead is quite rigid in that area, plus this Is Ford, they'd scrimp on wheel nuts if they could

Got it out today and cut it. Ideal for when we go camping now. 4 bolts back in for security. Surprisingly sturdy I think ;-)

It's a rectangular steel plate that is bolted to the middle of the bulkead, must weigh a couple of kilo, has transit imprinted on it, and held on by 2 torx bolts
