Prv?

Postby skyeman » Thu Apr 17, 2014 2:32 pm

Hi all, PLEASE can someone advise me on whether it is safe or even sensible to undertake a 700 mile journey with what i believe is a blown PRV? Scv was replaced by a 'specialist' last week but don't think it had pump learn etc, and now it has erratic lumpy idle and I suspect PRV has popped.

I wouldn't call someone a specialist if they replaced it and didn't do the software tbh, I'd call them a spanner monkey
Personally I'd rather have a blown prv than a new 1 fitted but no software learns, which is a matter of opinion mind.
I think the only worry is over fueling tbh, if you have to drive it, go easy i would say, keep the revs down as much as you can imo.

Don't put your foot down heavy, not to overfuel the engine, just be light on the throttle and might be ok. Can you not get it done today.

I am staying with my folks in Bognor, west Sussex at the mo, but was supposed to be heading home to Skye on Saturday before all this bull with my van started.

You'll have a job getting it done over easter wknd i think :-( I'd drive it nicely if it was me maybe stick to the motorways etc, could try hoping it into Ford but if they are open Saturday it might be hard to organise, even be hard to get a prv and fit it yourself then go and get diagnostics done?
Anywhere open tomorrow?
Is the van fwd or rwd?

Very easy to replace the prv on them but i had to take the air box off to get my breaker bar on, still a 25 min job tho.
Problem is, getting a new 1 and doing the updates in the timescale :-(
All you can do is try a few places i guess
