auxilliary belt

i change the belt and now it keeps jumping half way across alternator pulley,I checked all the pullies see if any were loose or broken everything seems except the power steering pump seems to have a bit of play in the shaft as it can be moved in and out a few mm.as i say everything else is ok any ideas please
