opening the bonnet

Postby windyboy » Thu Jul 17, 2014 11:40 pm

Is it just mine or does everybody have to take the grille off to allow the key to go all the way in so that the bonnet lock will open ??? :?

I spent about 5 minutes earlier today fighting with and almost breaking my key before I took the grille off and then the key went in further and when I turned it the bonnet popped up :D

I did the same the other week but I thought it might of been a fluke, now I know how to do it :D

Try getting a new unchipped key cut for the bonnet opening  My ignition key struggles with opening the bonnet, but the new one doesn't

Are you pressing down on the bonnet as you turn the key anti-clockwise ?

yes I was, I tried turning it both ways with no joy, as soon I took the grille off and the key went it further and I turned it anti-clockwise it popped up without any problems.

Apparently lots of things don't work properly unless they are all of the way in

No, definitely something wrong. Maybe the grille is not fitted properly or something is holding it too far forward. My key just goes straight in and turns (as others have said).

ditto , try removing grill and make sure it's "locked" in position at the to in particular . I seem to remember that when I bought mine , only the side clips were engaged so the grill flexed in and out as the key was pushed in
