hi guys, 2005 2.0 tddi
wonder if anyone can help. had my van van tuner - ed. it pulls better than it did before esp when its empty in the back.
but, when its heavily laden going up hill, if i put down the passenger side window ( and especially if theres a wall or hedge running parallel to the road that reflects noise back ) from about 1800 revs up to 3000 theres a really loud hissing noise and a lack of power. its worse when the weather and the van are hot. in cold weather its still there but not quite as loud. ( im thinking warm weather is causing a rubber hose to "give" more, maybe a crack(s) opening up, when its cold the rubber is stiffer and stays closed /more air tight kinda thing? )
when the van was in the garage the mechanic said he checked all the hoses etc and everything was fine. but he was working onhis own - only revving the van standing in the garage in neutral.
it doesnt make the noise doing that.
it really needs to be put on a rolling road so the engine is under load and pulling hard around 2500 when the noise it at its loudest and then it can be identified as to where its coming from.
iv got it van tuner-ed but not really getting the benefit of it because of this. on motorways with a heavy load it struggles to keep up 60 on steep hills. and this hissing is very loud then.
what should i do? i need a garage with a rolling road that can test the engine under load with 2 mechanics - 1 holding the engine around 2500 rpm under load whilst the other one is under the hood - it would take a minute or less to find it because its so loud!.
would a ford garage have a rolling road or how do i sort this - its doin my nut in now!
