Mk7 New Windscreen

Postby nomadbackwards » Tue Jul 22, 2014 7:09 am

Hi chaps,

Just wondered if anyone could recommend a company for replacing my Mk7s windscreen which cracked this morning driving into work. Heard a few horror stories!

Thanks in advance :)

This is the damage - it's about fist size.ImageImage

Tell is where you are and somebody may be able to point you in the right direction.
I had mine done by a company in Edinburgh who did it at my work while I was out in the lorry. Cost me £165 all in.
He even solidly re fitted the side trim which had broken off and caused the crack in the first place.

Ring your insurance company, when mine cracked they sent Autoglass out and all it cost me was £25 excess. The premium was unaffected as well. A good job done and with a warranty as well.

Insurer use Autoglass but they're quoting a week to do it - I'd rather pay myself and get it done sooner. I'm in Farnborough, Hampshire.

I've had 2 screens replaced by my insurers and it has never affected either my no claims bonus or premiums, I have always declared the claim on renewal as well. Cost me £75 excess on the first and £60 excess on the second claim, auto glass did the last replacement and used an OEM Pilkington screen. :D
