2.4 tddi rebuilt but low on power

Postby ediesbra » Thu Jul 24, 2014 8:52 pm

Hi everyone, have a 05 2.4 tddi (fxfa) engine code, basically the other day noticed a hole in side of cam carrier, stripped down and fitted a recon head which was tested and skimmed, new head gasket with genuine ford chain tensioner and guides (she's cost me a small fortune so far) , got it all built up and she fired up but sounded like someone was sat with a hammer knocking on the firewall consistent with the revs, adjusted timing on the fuel pump and now she ours like a kitten and runs evenly and so much more quiet. Problem is the top speed is 60 and when I hit a hill she will slow down as slow as 20. Turbos spooling up nicely. Any ideas , sometimes it will come back on power then just goes into this limp mode agajn until we turn the engine off again.

Could it be the timing still??

Cheers for any help, it is most appreciated.

Have you read fault codes?

It may have timing faults!
Is it timed up exactly as per the pins?

All sorted. Bought a reader myself now and after retiming cleared the codes once again and she's running sweet with no dtcs apart from a couple about the back door lol
