Fuel economy

Postby Wertikal » Mon Jul 28, 2014 8:13 pm

Hi,

I have a mk6 2,4 TDCI 2004 and it has six gear gearbox. Middle roof height.

Usually there are some graphics about optimal rpm for the best fuel economy in tallest gear, but haven't found one.

Does anyone know the optimal rpm for the economy?

Thank you,

Kimmo

theres generally no EXACT RPM as to whats good or bad ,all vans are used very differantly ,youve just got to try and work out whats best for you and your driving style :D

My usual understanding is, take off as slow as you can changing gears as quickly as you can. If your on a highway try to not go above 60mph as usually you use a whole lot more fuel above that due to wind resistance.
In other words the less you push the throttle pedal the less fuel you consume.

Ok,

I tought there would be some ideal rpm for the wind resistance and engine. I also could find that out with obd and android software while driving, maybe...

Yes you can check with an iphone or abdroid, if you have an app like torque you can check the load sensor, the lower the load the better the fuel consumption.
