Mk6 Engine and gearbox not matching up.

Postby Sam1274 » Sat Aug 23, 2014 6:09 pm

Hi all I'm in the middle of swapping my engine over on my MK6 TDDI, I have the new engine in place but it will not lock in to the gearbox there is a 10mm (approx) gap between the 2. I have swapped the pressure plate and clutch from my previous engine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

+1 had this problem me self these have to be bang on level mine wouldnt go together

to get mine out i pulled all the centre out and welded a bolt with head rounded off and a bit of flat bar steel across the fly wheel and screwed it out

a bit of greese on the spigot help a lot to locate it

Pack it with grease and tap a rod into the centre... It uses the grease to push the spigot bearing out. You will probably find a socket extension bar is the weapon of choice. Just wrap it in tape until it fits neatly into the bearing.
Pack more grease in as the bearing moves out of the crank.

Well got it out finally. Ended up grinding a hole through the bottom of it then got the slide hammer behind it and out it came.
