New Tourneo owner, greetings and some questions

Postby AllAboardTheWolfBus » Mon Oct 20, 2014 5:09 pm

Hi all,

I've recently bought a 54 plate Tourneo 280 SWB. I'm a relatively new driver and have only driven smaller vehicles up 'til now (in order, a mk1 Focus, a mk1 Laguna and a mk3 Mondeo). I have no experience with vans, and only very rudimentary mechanical knowledge. So I've got a few questions, I hope you don't mind me bringing them here.

First, it has nine seats. When I HPI checked it before buying it, it's listed as a nine seater model, but the v5c has it down as "Number of seats including driver: 8". So either the v5c is wrong, or it was converted somewhere in its life. This raises two issues:

1. how do I find out if it had 9 seats from the factory and if so get the v5 corrected,
2. if it has been converted, what do I need to do to get the v5 corrected
3. if it has been converted, does the front airbag need replacing?

Second, how do I run wiring to the back for a subwoofer? Are there accessible wiring channels I can use?

and Third, I gather that the middle row of seats is removable but they look bolted down. If I want to remove them, do I have to unbolt them or am I missing something?

Thanks for reading. I've attached a photo, just because.

Does front passenger seat match the others? Cos that's what makes the difference between 8 and 9 seats
What's the reg number? We may be able to check on etis

Airbags are the same

Someone may of sent the v5 off to the DVLA to change it to 8 seats, as the insurance on an 8 seater is a lot cheaper than 9. I did mine, but I had changed it to 8 seats.

Yes, insurance was a bit of a killer. Nearly £2000 with Direct Line.

Only the rear bench comes out btw, not the middle. Well that's how it is on mine.
