Sticking Clutch Pedal

Postby grunny » Tue Oct 21, 2014 10:04 pm

evening all
on my 2010,115bhp rwd the clutch pedal is sticking to the floor and won't come back up….it does it now and again but normally after a long run i.e.: motorway/A road, and when u come to slow down and change gear it happens.

The clutch isn't slipping and it seems ok under load.

any ideas please.

That used to happen on my mk6, they changed the slave cylinder, that cured it. I don't think its that easy on a mk 7 though.

If you've got a concentric fitted (inside the bellhousing) which I think your model has, that's likely to be the cause. They can suck air in without leaking fluid out (good trick eh?) This is a common problem on vauxhall vivaros as well. (All the concentrics are made by the same company) Unfortunately it's a major job as you have to take the box out. Of course while you're changing the cylinder you want to change the clutch, then you also want to change the dmf and suddenly you have a massive bill. You might want to try changing the master cylinder first, as it's a quicker cheaper job, but your description is very typical of a faulty concentric
