They are a good motor, but they are well known for fuel pump and injector failure, which could cost around £1500 to put right.

hi martin, i had read somewhere that the 135 can suffer from pump and injector fatigue at a greater rate. im really looking to hear from anyone who has done 200k without issue.. i know ive had a gaggle of 90's with 200k plus miles on them. i assume yours has been good?

Engine in Mk6 2,4/135 PS it is tdci (common rail) with Delphi fuel system.
Statistically after 130.000 - 150.000 miles injectors and injection pomp are used very much and ready for very expensive regeneration.

During test, when engine is in nominal temperature - give him full power on 5-th and 6-th gear between 1800 - 3000 engine rotation. It can not get limp mode.

the one i have bought has 60k miles on it. its antrue beauty. so would we expect 80k miles before an issue? a d if it does go wrong, what would the expected cost be for a pump and injectors?

If it's been well maintained and always had good quality fuel filters it could be good for many miles

As I said above, budget £1500 for pump and injectors

I don't know British realities, but in Poland I payed for pomp regeneration in Delphi service 2.200PLM -> 440GBP (without disassembly and assembly into the car), injectors I regenerayed myself (I changed valves and sprayers), cost for injectors was about 400 GBP.

ok good servicing isnt a problem, if i had to pay 1500 quid every 50k miles it would be worth it to stick with the mk6's, im not sure i trust the mk7's in any respect even now

Mk7 it is Denso injection system, much, much more resistant.
In Mk7 engines with bigger power (140PS) sometimes are broken (cracked) pistons - usually also after mileage 150k.

I'd have a Mk 7 2.4 115 or 140 over a MK 6 135 any day of the week.

I agree with ake. The tdci 135 is awful with fragile over stressed engine, Fuel pump and especially those Delphi injectors. Mk7 tdci more reliable
