is this right?

Postby loot » Fri Oct 24, 2014 10:51 pm

Looking at wiring diagrams and it has occurred to me that the ajar switches are back to front, ie. When the door is closed the switch is open circuit, and when open, it is closed circuit.
Makes sense because when my sld switch went walkabouts i got no info from the display and the interior lights didn't stay on/timed.
Anyone agree or disagree? :-)

Since the switches will spend nearly all their time open it cuts the current draw of the detector system. It becomes significant after a few days even when you draw only 1 milli-amp.

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

That was another of my thoughts Dave :-) when i first got the mk7 with it's bcm and other modules I'll admit it was a bit daunting but the more i learn the more simple it is :-)
The only thing now is cracking the can bus system :o
From what i have read, all that is required is a 120 ohm resistor at either end of your sensor/module in the can network and you can add it, that tho still confuses me because how do you tell the system what it is and what it does? Or is that information needed in the software? Which seems to be encrypted? Damn you siemens/other. :?
Be cool to change info in the ipc too (just because :o )

Am I a geek?

Loot, yes you are a geek, yes the switches close to show door closed, that's why converters who don't have ids just short lock switches to earth to get rid of door open messages!
