retro fit elec windows

Postby dodgy01 » Tue Oct 28, 2014 7:20 pm

i may of purchased a 2007 280
it does not have elec windows and i hate winders

so after a root around at work I've found a pair of elec regulators and switches BUT it there a way i can make these work without the van being wired for elec windows

can i power the motors directly from the switch or what else do i need to find

thanks

Mine were plug and play, you need the window looms too, check in the A pillar connectors where the door looms plug into the dash loom,if they have all but 1 wire in there then you should only need a relay/fuse.
I swapped my doors as they were crap and i fitted lecky ones and fitted the fuse/relay and bobs your aunty :o
If you don't have the wires then it's 2 cables to link the dr/ps switches and fused live and chassis earth at both doors, do you have door cards with switch pods in?
Only problem is they are all black wires :-(
Also you may get the one touch relay as part of the drivers loom.

There's a one touch control unit that sits in the drivers side door, that's the only relay. Fuse obviously sits in its own slot in the fuse board.

Punto helped me massively, finding the bits I needed to do mine.
Even though I have a high spec loom I didnt (or couldn't find) the electric window loom.
I ran the wires in myself, pretty simple with the aid of a haynes manual. Didn't gave the connectors for the switches either so had to solder them direct which isn't ideal but it worked. Only problem I've had is the one motor looks to be on its way out.

That's right :-)
The one touch relay is only for the sticky down on the drivers door :-)
Fuse f56 30A in glove fusebox is the only thing needed, got a feeling it is a big pink one not a spade standard type.

Personally I'd probably get the electric door looms, that way you don't have to try and feed wires through the rubber, the rest is a bit fiddly behind the dash but quite easy.
Did the reverse camera wiring through the back doors trunking, bloody nightmare
