i would oil pressure test it, but them noises sound like a bearing failer either little or or big ends

This noise sounds very bad. :shock:

It is not from injector - noise is still exactly the same during fuel injection and without.

First try to check valves "keyboard" in cylinder head - maybe one self-controller in valve rocker is broken and valve is knocking.

In my 2,0 tdci I had the same sound - sometimes louder, sometimes silently. I was sure for 100% that valve is knocking. I replaced 8 valve rockers - without effect... But as a result my engine... exploded on highway (broken connecting rod pan) - now I have second one engine...

Pressure tested today, not sure what the reading should be? Mate has suggested the rockers??

Thanks, is his suggestion of rockers pointing in the right direction? Is it diy able or specialist?

u can whip cam cover off to check rockers first but it does sound worse than that.
