TRANSIT MK7 OIL LEEK

Postby squirrel93 » Sun Nov 16, 2014 5:32 pm

Hi guys, I have picked up a mk7 2.2 transit a couple of days ago and have now discovered that's it dripping oil on my drive, I had a closer look today and removed the air box and all 4 injectors are wet around the rubbers, and by the looks of things the rocker cover is leaking ( more so on the rhs) , what do I need to pix the leak? Thanks
Forgot to ad, it's seems to be greedy on diesel and the oil on the dipstick seems to be rising

Possibly you have a problem with the copper sealing washers at the bottoms of the injectors.
The oil leak around the injectors would be because they are moving.
The rising oil level would be due to diesel in the oil.

New copper seals and clamp bolts are not too expensive, make sure the clamps are fitted the right way up !
Then change the oil and filter.

mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

You only recode the injectors if you change the order they are fitted in.

The rocker gasket and the rubber seals round the injectors are probably good to reuse if cleaned, but could be damaged and need changing. Don't be tempted to put sealer on the joints.

Contact them with you reg number or chassis number and they can check for you.
Any good supplier will offer the check rather than have an unhappy customer.

Don't wipe anything until the engine has been stopped for two or three minutes.

Clean it up with a solvent like brake or carb cleaner then the source of the leak should be easy to find.
