Well I have gone and bought another mk6 LPG/Petrol this time a MWB Luton with factory LPG
it needs a little work to make good and only has a 60 ltr LPG tank enough for 240 miles ( maybe ?)
LPG works ok but so far have not done to many miles in it , just fitting some extra lpg tanks at the moment going to need
around 200 litres minimum with the kind of trips I do , then after that going to be spendimg time fitting a bigger Luton body

I like Lpg and have a Mk5 with a Vialle Lpi system that is reputedly the best system, it is the most expensive anyway and know my installation almost inside out as have had it apart both old style pumps and new pumps  As I understand the new factory Ford fit is a Koltec/Necam set up which is basically the same as a Vialle and many parts are the same. I certainly couldn't afford to run my Van on Petrol and on Lpg if I drive normally keeping to or around the 80km/h speed limit use 12.5 litres per 100km or if stamping it can use upto 20 liters per 100 km, the most I used was 22, that was driving 1050km in 10.5 hours :D Paying around 30p a litre at this time in Poland.
How is it with the performance on the Mk6 2.3 16v dohc is it as good as the Mk5 2.0 8v or better? of course I'm talking swb van. I see the German Police sometimes on the autobahn driving in convoy to demonstrations/football matches in lwb semi high top Trannies and they go like F**k so always thought they must be the 2.3 motor, certainly always ahead of their T5's  I've tried to keep up with them but can't
I have never yet met a mk6 Transit or any other Transit model on the road regardless of model including the latest custom that is faster than mine, of course there are custom jobs with other engines that will be faster but have not yet met one on the road.

Be interested to see a few photos of your system as the Vialle that I have seen are totally different to the Necam Koltec.

You can't see much of my installation, only the Tank, 2x Gentec computers and the pressure regulator, the injectors are underneath the intake manifolds, maybe the new installation from Koltec/Necam is different but earlier Lpi versions used the same pump as the Vialle and injectors Keihin or Bosch. Can you post pictures of your system? I've just checked for the Koltec/Necam system fitted by Ford and it's not an Lpi looks very similar to the BRC installation with waterheated reductor and no pump. I just had to buy a new Gastank for my Van and cost me 1000 polish zloty for 2000 zloty could have fitted a new complete BRC system.

Most of the mechanical parts on a Transit 2004 Necam system are under the bonnet behind and under the airbox, which I don`t have anymore to make access to the system easier. Here`s a pic of all the bits.

Just been trawling the Polish lpg-forum and ebay (Allegro) the Koltech system is a "Bitsa" AG reductor, Tomasetto multivalve, ecm computer. I'll read further when I get time and find out what interface and diagnostic programme works on it. The parts I've seen on allegro for this setup are quite expensive, the distributer reconditioned is about 80 quid, that's the part with the stepper motor on the top in the picture.
That aside how is the performance of the 2.3 Transit?
This interface is for koltec/necam system Sgi 2 and 3 series http://allegro.pl/interfejs-kabel-usb-a ... 00592.html

Hi Sportsscott I have had 3 x MK 5 with petrol LPG ( 2 diesels as well ) and 2 x mk6 with petrol lpg !!
The engines are very similar and some parts are interchangable
First was a swb semi high roof with a 4.56 axle but I forget the lpg system name, top speed 108 mph 180kmh( limited ) ave fuel econ (driven at its not my van or fuel what do I care speed ) 4 miles per litre 6.5 kilometres per litre , driven easy 7 miles per litre or 12 km per litre petrol or 6mpl petrol 10 km per litre lpg , sent back to lease comp at 300,000 miles (500,000kms)
2nd mk5 was a high cube fitted with a romano system top speed over 95mph 155kph + ave fuel economy 4.25 miles per litre 7km per litre but driven easy 6.5 miles per litre petrol 11km per lit or 5.4 mpl or 9 km per litre last seen on its way to Nigeria at 155K
the 3rd mk 5 was rubbish so will keep it out of this discussion but interestingly both the above Petrols were More economical than the diesel equivelent !!!
First mk6 is a Jumbo fitted with a Lima system ave 4 miles per lit LPG 6.5 kms per lit , best 5.3 mpl 9kms per lit top speed 108 mph 180 kmh (273k now )
second mk6 is a Luton box van top speed no idea !!! so far 4 miles per litre is the best I have got driving at 56 mph or 90 kph empty !!!

The 2.3 16v is very very smooth, with the balancer shafts it feels like a 6 cylinder but is quite a bit more complicated than the 8v and if I am honest it never really feels like you have 146bhp. Over 70mph (110kph) its a bit sluggish compared to the 2.0 8v which seemed to take off over 70mph like a scolded cat in comparison .
The mk6 is quite a lot heavier than the mk5 so the extra 30 bhp does not really get noticed if I am honest .
If I was you I would stick with the 2.0 8v and maybe get a 2.3 block and fit your head to it if you want to go faster .

Thanks for you information Madmart, always wondered how the 2.3 performed and from what I gather it's a little bit dissapointing :( I did like what you said about the 2.0 8v "taking off like a scalded Cat" that' sums it up nicely, I can relate to that :D I have seen on a Ford forum that they fitted a 2.3 with 8v head and removed the balancers, and was supposedly very economical and nice performance. My Van only has 228k km and is ex KNLP "koninglijke nederland landelijke politie' a bit of a mouthfull but ex dutch police :) I bought it about 6.5 years ago @ 148k and drove it a bit, then put it away for 5 years @ 220k just couldn't bear to part with it, I LOVE IT :D it's got very little rust and I've waxoiled it inside the beams, fitted a Tourneo interior and am going to start rust proofing the underside when I get time before winter, it's almost 99.9999 mechanically perfect, so as much as would like to go the 2.3 mod there's absolutely no need for it. The fastest I can get it to go is 162km/h just over a 100mph on the flat then the computer cut's out, measured with gps. Seems faster now though as had to change a perfect gearbox for a secondhand one as a garage fooked mine up doing a simple clutch change  and think I need to change the pinions over as am sure it's going slower than what the speedo is reading   and before it was dead accurate.

i've just finished using a 2007 mk 7 lpg as a front line vehicle.(2261cc) now on 126,000miles.
it's done 30,000m in 12 months.mainly on LPG with the price varying between 49.9(energas) and 64.9p(motorway services) per litre.
consumption was pretty poor approx 19mpg on petrol and about 260miles on a tank of 75 litres of lpg.(approx 15mpg?) but loaded to max weight and lot's of ticking over.(sometimes for hrs).
