crank position sensor 2.3 L petrol mk6

Hi guys ,
Can anyone confirm the location of the cps . I believe it's the one on the side of the bellhousing , driver's side just above starter motor and behind the oil filter ???? . Should I expect it to be coated in oil or dry ? ......... cheers

Thats the one Rikki , I have not changed mine on my MK6 but had to on my smiley face they are in the same place I believe .
Expect bruised knuckles as it is a real pain to get at , seemed to be protected from oil and dirt by the oil filter on mine so cannot really comment on cleanliness !!

Thanks for that ...... I was thinking more of the actual sensor bit inside . I took out a single 8 mm bolt , undid the wires but the sensor would only turn slightly and not come out . I assume they have an o-ring same as the cam sensor . Didn't want to force it incase I had the wrong one and it broke ... lol
