First port of call in a MK7 with electrical gremlins is to check the battery, or both if you have two

Both should be the same size , front one does every thing but start and rear does starting

update fixed the intermitent non start ..new starter motor required guys who fixed it said it was worn out and clogged up with dust of the dual mass flywheel ? still not sorted the central locking though any further comments on that issue are welcome thanks ... would a diagnostic check tell me anything about the failed central locking ?

Not all ways there could be enough to keep pcm going but not do door locks , and when you turn key and dash lights come on it connects the start battery in line so giving you power
