02 transit won't go in gear while engine running

Postby Carperlloyd » Sat Dec 20, 2014 11:20 pm

Hi can anyone help just bought this van they said they fitted a new clutch, it was fine for a day or so and whilst stuck in traffic it decide not to go into gear. If engine is of all gears are fine!!!! If I start with clutch down it pulls away fine and is difficult to select gears. Pls any help would be appreciated thanks

I'd re bleed the clutch and see what it's like if that's no good I'd be going to see whoever you brought it off they will have to get whoever fitted the clutch to look at it properly
just follow the onscreen instructions and it's fairly idiot proof...trouble is, we keep producing better idiots

Clutch slave cylinder is either knackered, or needs bled, as above post

Thanks guys for quick reply, tried re bleeding when it happened to no joy, when I got in to the van this morning it was fine, it started whilst I was stuck in traffic, and it was sold as seen for good price... Any other ideas, could it be anything to do with gear oil??

If rear wheel drive, pop the slave cyl out and check the PLASTIC actuating arm's not disintegrated. Happened on mine second day I had it. About £70 from ford, cheaper 3rd party

Mine done the same but no leaks so the level stayed at max. A new clutch slave and clutch cured it
