Idiots guide to IDS

I havnt downloaded the ids patch 86 exe, I right clicked on the short cut which is what I thought you meant and went into properties where it let me set it to xpsp3 and run as admin.

No you download it so it is on your laptop, you then unzip it to desktop (if it is zipped up i forget) then right click and xpsp3 and admin.

It's best never to run things direct from a remote location including external hdd or cd it is preferable to download them to the laptop you are going to install them from/on.

Never run from zip you must unzip them but make sure that they are zip and not seen as a zip like some android firmwares etc.

Ok got the patch as a short cut and right clicked, set as xpsp3 and admin, so is it time to plug into my van and watch for smoke from the dash?

I did as you said and have just right clicked to run as admin on the ids short cut to have a look around but I have that evaluation license box up again. Think this might be beyond my capabilitys, off to take the dog out.

You only run as admin the first time when you install ids and the patch, after that you just run ids like any other program.

I think you are making stuff up here m8, you'll be hoping round in circles on 1 leg and rubbing your belly next

Get clean w7 on them download the 3 files to your desktop then download team viewer 12 and I'll install it all for you OK

Did you try installing the program on the disk that came with your VCM II first? If so, that is why you are getting the three day message. There is an IDS remover/cleaner available.

If you have an easy guide to the cleaner 40fan that would be helpful I've only ever done the destructive method before (can install it first time every time now so never needed the clean method.)

Revo uninstaller.
I've used this successfully before to get rid of unwanted programmes (stuff I've messed up)
Worth a whirl rather than reinstalling windows. Only ever used the free version no need for the full bunna.

Thanks guys but I am going for the W7 reload, I don't want to risk the uninstaller and waste anymore time, once its back I will download team viewer and let someone who knows what they are doing take over

I don't know what the fuss was all about, I downloaded IDS etc and got it all working by my self, did an update, did learns etc etc its so easy any fool could do it.

Hi, I recently downloaded IDS v 101 installed as Virtual Machine and I use it with cloned VCM 2. Virtual Machine setup is good, because you can use it on any laptop (with Virtual Machine installed on it) and the IDS 3 days licence is permanent as the date is “frozen” in VM. It is well know fact that some cloned VCM interfaces have problems with programming. My is good quality and I successfully changed speed limit in my MK7 .
