transit mk 6 280 transit

Postby alanjohn2350bikes » Tue Mar 03, 2015 12:01 pm

Hi everybody i'm new to this site. My name is Alan. I have a ford transit mk6 280 75 ps transit. I have owned it from new (2002) Went out this morning, started it and there was a big bang. I found the near side front spring has broken and collapsed. Is this a job I could do myself? I'm reasonably handy. Would I need any specialist tools? And if I took it to a garage would it be an expensive fix? Many thanks Alan

I had the same happen to me. I ended up taking it to my local transit center to do, they changed the whole leg. You need a compression tool to compress the spring while its being put on. Mine put up a real fight, they are experienced guys and it took 40 minutes, cost me £60 if i remember right, second hand parts but it didnt matter
