Didnt know you code pair your own keys on mk7s.(i know ids is needed)

A roofer i know got stuffed by ford. He only had one blue remote key and wanted a spare. Ford told him they can only code in sets of 3! So he was charged for 2 new keys cutting, coding and his original recoding to the van.

You can't pair, you use ids and program keys in, you only need 1 :-)

You can buy ids for a bit over 100 pounds, you need a laptop and you need to be able to understand laptops to a small degree.

If you don't know where the head gasket fuse is then you need to go to Ford and pay the money

Unless you erase all know keys..

Then you require 2 keys

When erasing all known keys. previous keys programmed to van will no longer work.
& will have to be programmed again.

TIP IDS will inform you on the number of keys programmed to van.

Nope

You only need the first key to turn the ignition on, you can program another and just take yours out then put it back in.

that's from what i remember anyway, i can confirm if you want me to

That doesn't work on other Ford vehicles. Transit mk6, Connects, Focus, Mondeo, C-Max, Fieata etc all require 2 keys. When all known keys have been erased.
So I wouldn't have thought Mk7's would be any different. :?

Erased all known keys.

Only key in the ignition and turned off, programming key ids gets coded access to tis.

Get incode.

Remove the Key from ignition and put back in.

Only key is coded, key out and back in and start the van to check :-)

Key 2 coded as above (if done straight after first key you don't need coded access but since i closed the operation i had to get coded access again.
Image

I did get a dtc saying less than minimal keys coded but it cleared fine and didn't hinder the operation.

Only reason I've gone to length to show it can be done is because if for some reason you find yourself in the same situation then you know you can get it done without panicking about getting a second key.

Also works on module replacement ie pcm/bcm.

I do recommend having 2 keys tho as you can't go wrong with a spare key.

do you need "incode" etc from autokeyprog to "pair "a fob(on its own) or is that only if you have a key with it?
was going to do my "spare" fob tomorrow!
van is parked in street so unsure if i can connect laptop to internet via wifi (about 30 metres from house).
any code has to be entered within a certain time limit doesn`t it?

You need incode every time you enter pats programming.

You don't need ids online to do it, you need internet on your phone/other laptop to generate the incode to then input to the request screen in ids.(you can note down ids outcode then run to your internet for incode then back to your van if using Wi-Fi) i just use my phone tho :-)

The timeout is after this part which is just when you remove the key and put the key back in then press tick to program key.

ok Loot,
this "spare fob" which does NOT have a key attached to it- can i "pair" it without it actually being physically attached to a key in the ignition? that is the bit :?: i`m trying to work out.

Just unclip the original key just so it can be pulled off and then do the process and then unclip the old fob and fit the new fob, easy :-) but remember you need to turn off ignition, swap fobs, turn on ignition then press tick. In 5 or 10 seconds as soon as ignition off.(the fob is the coded bit, the key with horse shoe on is nothing electronic.

Try and keep the 2 fobs apart from each other.
