I'm not sure what exactly he used, he said it was some diesel spray?

With ids you can run a test that operates the egr valve and on the live read out it tells you how far open it is, well it did on a mondeos I tested, which wouldn't run, it said egr was open 6mm . The boys cleaned egr and it was mint.

Worth a ids being plugged in I think.

So I went to a veteran ford mechanic who used to do my vans, I only stopped going to him due to distance as it was a 30/40 minute drive and no easy public transport back so always had to get someone to give me a lift.

Anyway, he seemed to think it might have something to do with the timing chain and said it may only need a timing chain tensioner. He said the timing chain controls the oil level (I could be wrong with what he said, but something like that) and that if the levels are wrong then the system wouldn't be getting enough fuel.

He ran a test on his tool diagnosis thingy and the system didn't return any faults but he didn't think it was an EGR issue and he said he could have a look at it over 3 hours or so to check the levels from cold etc and see how they are.

As I also have two oil leaks I wanted him to have a look at he said he'd do this after as if you fit a new kit, you replace all that stuff anyway with the new kit but he said it may just need a tensioner and these were very common to go in 05/06 transits as Ford used a really cheap one, but my transit is a 01.

I'll drop it up to him Monday and hopefully he can fix it for a lot less than the €900 odd it would have cost with the other guy.
