First Time MK6 Owner - Questions!

Postby PistonMeetValves » Fri Apr 24, 2015 9:11 am

Hi guys,

Its been months since I had my mk5 flairside, which now earns a healthy living under my girlfriends brother's hands :D

Hence why I've been desparate to get back to van lyfe (I hear that's what the cool kids call it)

Recently picked up an '02 plate T280 MWB Med roof van with the 2.0 DI Duratorq motor.

Its complicated to look at, so I'm scared of most jobs/maintenance on it lol.

First question, is it easy to blank off the dreaded EGR? She doesn't burn oil, but kicks out a fair bout of soot when on full chap.

Thanks in advance guys,

Yes fairly simple but the bolts and nuts may have corroded but well you at it remove the inlet manifold and clean that out too. Wear gloves as it's messy

Looks like a good guide, and I remember how bad my mk5's inlet bananas were

My mate reckons I might lose a few MPGs by disabling it? Deffo worth doing? :?

Do it, did mine a few weeks ago and the difference in power was noticable. Better on fuel too

Is it much more difficult to blank the EGR than it was on my MK5? Still not 100% sure what I'm looking at with this engine
