Differences of Duratorq 2.4: 90, 115/125 and 137.

Postby GattoDelleNevi » Mon May 25, 2015 3:32 pm

Hello everyone.
I tried searching I found nothing.

I want to know that there are mechanical differences between the Duratorq 2.4.
If I'm not mistaken are 90 hp, 115 hp (old 125 hp) and 137 hp.
I have no idea if this is just setting ECU or other mechanical parts.

I have a Duratorq 90 D and I would like a little 'more performance.
Thanks ;)

2.4 90ps, that would be a mk6 (2000-2006) model

90ps Injectors, fuel pump & bottom engine block are different to 120/125ps TDDI, 135/140ps TDCI engines

The 137 is TDci. The rest are tddi

The fuel systems are totally different

Pretty sure the 90 has a different timing chain as well

90 chain is different to 115 and 125 but I have interchanged them with sprockets ect with no ill effect :)

Thanks all!
Yes It's Transit Mk6 2002

Now i know that they are different :x
I'd like to tune the ECU, but I'm afraid to make it less reliable. I use it working.
Do you know if it is easy to tune (only the ECU)? Being a turbo diesel should get something.

Sorry for my english ;)

Vantuner.co.uk is the man to speak to re: ECU tuning, by all accounts.

Now, somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I am led to believe that 125 injectors are a straight swap and give a notable improvement in poke, with no ECU fiddling.
As I said, don't quote me on that.

I, too, have a 2.4 90ps. So far, I've put in a K&N filter, completely removed the EGR pipe and blanked the holes off, cut the inlet pipe to the airbox back at an angle and run the cam cover breather hose to a bottle. I have noticed improvement in acceleration and MPG, but nothing shocking.
I drink too much, I swear too much, I drive too fast and I crash too often.

It is a universal impossibility for me to leave my tools alone. Everything can be made to go faster!

A 90 is pretty easy to get to 115-120bhp reliably..... A quick trip to vantuner sorted that out for me, as long as your engine is otherwise healthy (egr blanked, inlets cleaned of any thick residue and decent fuel filter)

Thanks again all ;)

I think my transit will be ECU tuned. ;)
I'll bought a new filter and i'll remove di EGR, and slowly other little works.

I understood that this is strong and reliably engine, and i'm feeling lucky because i don't have an inutil FAP on it.

Here in the UK. Transit mk6's don't have Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) - Known as FAP in Italy :P
