rear axle drive

Postby BronyrErw » Thu Jul 02, 2015 11:03 pm

I have recently acquired a LWB High Top 2.4TDCI 6 speed. High mileage ex-commercial but drives very well on normal roads. However!
I live fairly high up in Snowdonia, the main access road is narrow, steep and twisty. It has to be given a little 'welly' due to steepness but with caution as there is little warning of vehicles coming the other way.
At two points on this road the van seems to lose drive briefly then pick up again - the impression is of an automatic changing down then pulling again
I have been a bit suspicious that it might be rear axle problem but there are no untoward noises!
Alternatively, it occurs to me that it might simply be the inner wheel losing traction on the sudden adverse camber then picking up again as the weight settles?
Any opinions?

Mine does similar on tight corners or with uneven cambered surface, the inside wheel loses traction and pretty much all drive is lost, I guess if we had a LSD it wouldn't be so bad....but it is what it is.
