Mk7 2.4 2006 power steering pipe

Postby stevenet15 » Sat Jul 04, 2015 8:15 pm

My transit 2.4 mk7 2006 the power steering pipe Union burst off, I read on here there is a recall and found pics but does anyone have part numbers for it? Would fords do a recall for my transit or is it a diy, I tried a new union on my power steering pipe but it blew it straight off so I presume it's a new pipe I need?

Mines like the first one in the pic, any help much appreciated as I'm stuck for work come Monday also any idea on part prices thanks

Once yours has been done, make sure the clips have been put on the correct way round (like these  )

It's just 2 halves of ally and 2 jubilee clips, I would imagine it's free for Ford to do, you could phone them and see if they'll supply them for you to fit.

its only a anti vibration coupling mrk6 don't have these :?: but the mrk 7 has these because they were using cheap import parts aluminium :(

hence needing the support bracket

Mine did this today :( 2006 56 plate that never had the recall.

Doing a 3 point turn and pop and no PAS. The pipe cleanly popped out the socket, placed back in with no force but continued to leaked heavily. Managed to get some without any fires!

Now I have purchased the new nut and clamps but I can't bloody remove the pipe from the old nut.

Not paying £120 for a new pipe so might have to cut the nut away!

Thanks for this, sourced them from Ebay. I take it the second bracket it for underneath the van? Into the rack? Only fitted the one from out the pump at the moment.

The site seems to be gone so i can't see the image to remind me, but generally 1 side goes into the rack and the other goes into a pipe or the pump directly :-)

Photos are in the 1st post but was guessing so. I've only done the fix from the pump but I shall look underneath when I get a chance.
Cheers
