valve check

Postby tezzab » Sat Aug 29, 2015 2:52 am

hi all, I just brought a 1999 diesel/auto tranny with a broken timing belt,
I was wondering what was the easiest way to check for bent valves without removing the head?
someone suggested to back off all the valves and turn it over without the belt and you would be able to hear the leaky ones as the load on the starter motor would be less as the compression leaks passed the bent ones...
what do you recon??
thanks.

It wont have bent valves but may have bent pushrods and or a broken rocker though.
On the sixth day God created a Sprinter on the seventh he gave it away and bought a TRANSIT
