Try code reading it while fault is present ie lamp is on,

Check all tyres fitted are the same size, profile.
Poss steering angle sensor needs calibrating.
Is steering wheel straight ahead when driving on a straight road ?

hi guys thanks for the replays much appreciated

Check all tyres fitted are the same size, profile
Typical Ford Alloy wheels on a Transit tyres are all 205/65R/16c

Try code reading it while fault is present ie lamp is on.
Did not have my laptop to hand but will give that agao

wheel straight ahead when driving on a straight road.
when i got the van i did notice that it was pulling a bit to the left and tryed to have the tracking done to find out the
the ball jont lock nuts seized in place.
Have now replace have now replace the track rods and ball joins both sides and have the tracking done by ATS Euromaster
but the problem was there before all the work i did

Try doing the test with handbrake off.
Did not think to try that ill give that ago too.

I dont know if this makes a difference but i did noticed drive shaft near side front sticks out a a few millimetrers more then the off side
so you cant put on the Ford Alloy Centre Cap on properly is it likely to affect the positioning of the speed sensor on the back of the world at all ??

forget to mention as well but when I turn the engine off the light seems to reset don't don't come back again till i am doing a constant speed again

If one drive shaft appears longer then check the abs rings on the cv joints, if they have different numbers of teeth then someone has fitted a replacement shaft that is wrong.
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

hi v8dave
what i dont get is that its fine if i am doing a lot of stop start driveing in london as you do.
But if i go from archway round about to thw M1 to the fist to the service station then the ligth comes on or a little
it only seems to come on when doing a constant speed

drive shaft appears longer by mabey a mm or so just enough to stop you puting on the center cap in the middle of the alloy wheel
thx

Do the front wheel alignment and recalibrate the steering angle sensor.

I couldn't get the ford cap on the front near side of my alloys either.but the caps that came with the wheels fit on an off easy, could this cause problems?

hi guys sorry for the long replay not had a chance too look at my van till now

have now rember to try reading the fault when it happens or when light comes on
here the read out

===ABS DTC C1B00:08-2B===
Code: C1B00 - Steering angle sensor

Additional Fault Symptom:
- Bus Signal/Message Failures

Status:
- DTC Present at Time of Request
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC

Module: Anti-Lock Brake / Traction Control Module

Diagnostic Trouble Code details

Steering angle sensor

The ESP lamp will be illuminated. There are other DTCs for the ABS module.

Possible causes are:

The SAS signal is implausible.

Steering Angle Sensor Not Calibrated

For Fault Code Type 54, the SASM is not calibrated. Calibrate the SASM.

Steering Angle Sensor Circuit Failure

The vehicle may have been involved in an accident.

Perform these checks

DO NOT replace the ABS module based on this DTC alone.

Check the SAS mounting and electrical connections. Check that the SAS is not loose or free to rotate.

Park the vehicle on level ground.

Check the steering and suspension geometry.

Replace the SAS.

Calibrate the new SAS after replacement.

After clearing the DTC, this DTC is not set again until after 30 seconds of ignition ON (Position II).

After the vehicle has been repaired, clear the DTC. Check to make sure it does not occur again after the ignition has been on (position II) for over 30 seconds.
