How long have you owned the van?

I'm wondering if someone has made an administrative error & the recall has never been done. :?

Yes....it's not unusual for there to be errors in Etis - human error inputting data & all that. :(

As you say....its plausible the recall has been done & due to other problems then had the axle replaced with one still on the effected item list. You'll find out soon enough if its booked in for tomorrow....hope you get a result & its all free of charge. 8)

good news guys FREE ! lol they checked the recall and said it was still open so could do it for free great. Bad news is it needs new front wheel bearing and brake pads and discs which there quoting around £450 for all work to be done. Had to tell them just couldnt afford that amount just before xmas so will have to wait but cant win them all. Thx for all the input guys you have been great as usual Colin

Nice one. :D Get another quote on the other work....just bear in mind that the real cheap wheel bearings have a VERY short service life, not worth going too cheap on brakes & wheel bearings in my opinion, but you can get a good job done for a lot less than you have been quoted. 8)

Now that you've had the recall done you'll be in a better position to judge what else is wrong....what's the mileage on the van, it could be diff bearings whining. :(

They must have cast an eye over it to defect the front bearings & brakes....so its reasonable to suggest they think the rear wheel bearings & prop shaft centre bearing are ok....with 175k on the clock everything inside the diff housing is going to be well worn....I would think. :(

The saga continues ive had an secondhand axle put on after getting the recall done changed the bearing in the propshaft and still the noise and vibrating.
So this started when I bought the van and I took it to get the recall done at fords when getting it back the noise was still present so when I took it for mot the guy says there was some play from the prop shaft bearing, not a failure but mentioned it because of noise so I had it done. got it back and still bloody noise.so we had it in the air and wheels off ground revved it and nothing but did notice there was play in the wheels moving side to side. And so decided a second hand axle would solve the problem and it did solve the wheel issue but still that bloody noise and vibration now were back on the prop shaft again he says it might need balancing ? but cost just as much to get second hand prop shaft. so my question arises again what if its not the shaft ? what else could it be any input answers plz this bloody noise not to mention the money ! thx as always Colin

DMF maybe.??

Does it make the noise when just revving the engine?...Or do you have to be driving it at a certain speed etc..?

check that the universal joints are all in line with each other on the prop shaft, they shouldnt even be a spline out of alignment
